Ames Pond

Ames Pond

Ames Pond is a pond in the northern part of Tewksbury, near the street now called Ames Pond Drive, on land that was part of Billerica until Tewksbury was set off in 1734. It lies on a small stream in the wetlands of north Tewksbury, well away from the present Billerica line.

No record of the pond under this or any other name has been found in the Billerica town records, Hazen's history, Farmer's memoir or the deeds, and the origin of the name is not recorded; no Ames family is among the early settlers in Hazen's register. In Billerica sources the pond turns up only in passing, as a place remembered by a Billerica high school class in the yearbook of 1982.
